With beautiful Mad Lavender Farm surrounding you, activate your creative spirit through journaling and collage. Each participant will choose a handwritten/handcrafted, nature based prompt and a unique surface to write on. Prompts and all writing materials will be provided. “Free Writing” techniques will be addressed and will encourage the raw and unedited flow of thoughts onto the page. Writing continuously for 5 or so minutes is a wonderful preparation for collage making. Both practices are about gathering ideas and creating new stories from combinations of unrelated parts. Expand your self expression through this rich combination of words and images.
Participants will be given a pack of curated papers to collage with. Bright colors, patterns, black and white text, textured papers, hand made imagery, a variety of magazine pages and more will be included. Journal writing and writing prompts can be incorporated into collages or not. They are intended to jump start the creative process and need not be taken literally.
All materials will be included and participants will leave with their work from class as well as collage papers for future projects. A brief sharing of writing and collages will be encouraged and a variety of books and art examples will be available for inspiration.
